Christoph Brechs filmische Arbeiten siedeln sich im Spannungsfeld zwischen Klangraum und Bildfläche an, dessen Dimensionalität in beinahe experimentellen, jedoch immer poetischen Versuchssituationen intensiviert wird.

Nach einer Assistententätigkeit an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München erhielt er 2001 das Stipendium der Erwin und Gisela von Steiner-Stiftung, war 2003-04 Artist in Residence in Montreal, Kanada, wo er auch als Gastdozent wirkte, und wird 2006 Villa Massimo Stipendiat der Deutschen Akademie Rom sein.

Christoph Brech's filmbased work is embedded in a contradictory context of sound space versus image surface, the expanse of which he intensifies in near experimental, but always poetic arrangements.

After lecturing at Munich's Academy of Fine Arts, he received a scholarship from the Erwin and Gisela von Steiner Foundation in 2001, was Artist in Residence in Montreal from 2003-04 where he also was a visiting lecturer, and will hold the 2006 Villa Massimo Residency of the German Academy in Rome.

Die umfangreiche Zusammenarbeit von Husain / Klöfkorn bewegt sich flüssig und immer überraschend auf einem Terrain zwischen Musikvideo, Animationsfilm und Medienkunst. Ihre Musikclips entwickeln sie u.a. für Sensorama, Commercial Breakup, Andreas Dorau, Jan Delay oder Alter Ego.

Ihre Koproduktionen wurden mehrfach ausgezeichnet, etwa mit dem Music-Machine Award 1997, als Bestes Musikvideo an den Internationalen Kurzfilmtagen Oberhausen 1999 oder dem Schnitt Preis 2002. Sie gestalteten ausserdem den Trailer zu den 50. Internationalen Kurzfilmtagen Oberhausen.

The extensive collaboration of Husain /Klöfkorn moves fluently and ever surprising on a territory between music video, animation film and media art. They develop music clips for Sensorama, Commercial Breakup, Andreas Dorau, Jan Delay or Alter Ego, among others.

Their collaboration has been frequently awarded, e.g. with the Music-Machine Award 1997, with the prize for Best Music Video at the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen 1999 or with the Schnitt Preis 2002. They also created the trailer for the 50. anniversary of the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen.

Die Zusammenarbeit von Mahler / Purfürst konzentriert sich auf Rekonfigurationen von filmischem Material entlang seiner getrennt vorliegenden technischen Informationen. Ihre found footage wird dabei nicht nur spielerisch neu formiert und informiert, sondern findet auch aktuelle Bild-Ton-Zusammenhänge, die sich einer realweltlichen Anschauung entziehen.

Neben Musikvideoproduktionen, etwa für die Berliner Band Hotel, gestalteten sie für das Inter Film Short Film Festival Berlin sowie für das EmergeAndSee Short Film Festival London den Festivaltrailer 2002, befassten sich von 2002-05 mit audiovisuellen Essays zu Konzeption und Ästhetik der neuen Medien, und entwickelten im Projekt '4 Rooms in a Hotel' 2004 einen Prototypen für eine Neunutzung des DVD-Formates für Musik.

The collaboration Mahler / Purfürst concentrates on reconfigurations of film material according to its separate technical information channels. They playfully form and inform their found footage while developing new topical sound and image relations that resist any real world viewing.

Apart from music video productions such as for the Berlin Band Hotel, they created the festival trailers for the Inter Film Short Film Festival Berlin and for the EmergeAndSee Short Film Festival London in 2000, attended to the production of audiovisual essays on the conception and esthetics of new media in 2002-05, and developed a prototype DVD format for reuse in music during their project '4 Rooms in a Hotel' in 2004.

In ihren Film- und Videoinstallationen kollaboriert Anu Pennanen mit verschiedenen Experimentalmusikern und interessiert sich dabei für Grenzlinien zwischen Realität und Fiktion, sowie für die sensorische Erfahrung von räumlichen Strukturen im Verhältnis zwischen Architektur und Kino.

Ihre Arbeit wurde in verschiedenen internationalen Ausstellungen und Filmfestivals gezeigt, darunter Manifesta 5 in San Sebastian, Spanien, Momentum Nordic Art Biennale in Moss, Norwegen, eine Gruppenausstellung durch vier lateinamerikanische Kunstmuseen sowie die Einzelausstellung 'Lamp Works' an der Academy of Fine Arts Gallery in Helsinki, Finnland.

In her film and video installations, Anu Pennanen collaborates with experimental musicians in an interest for the borderline of reality and fiction, and the sensory experience of spatial structures in the relation between architecture and cinema.

Her work has been shown in various international exhibitions and film festivals, including Manifesta 5 in San Sebastian, Spain, Momentum Nordic Art Biennial in Moss, Norway, a touring group exhibition in four Latin American Art Museums, and the solo exhibition 'Lamp Works' at the Academy of Fine Arts Gallery, Helsinki.

Walter Rafelsberger (1978 St. Johann, lebt in Wien, Österreich)

Seit Mitte der 90-er Jahre konzentrieren sich Walter Rafelsbergers Videoarbeiten auf Artefakte, wie sie durch digitale Kompressionstechnologien und automatische Bildmanipulationen entstehen. Sein Hauptinteresse im Kunstbereich liegt in der Untersuchung der Relevanz des Materials in einem zunehmend digitalen Umfeld.

Für den Animationsfilm 'Raumstation Kuhbase' (mit Markus Loder-Taucher, 2001) erhielt er den Hauptpreis des film:riss Festival Salzburg und eine Nominierung zum Förderpreis des Prix MultiMediaAustria. Er entwickelte 'RhNav - Rhizomatic Navigation', ein Navigationsinterface, das Benutzerverhalten im Netz visualisiert.

Walter Rafelsberger (1978 St. Johann, lives in Vienna, Austria)

Since the mid-90ies, Walter Rafelsberger's video works focus on artefacts of digital compression technologies and automated image manipulation. His main interest within the art context is the analysis of the relevance of material in an increasingly digital environment.

For the animation film 'Raumstation Kuhbase' (with Markus Loder-Taucher, 2001) he received the main prize of Salzburg's film:riss Festival and a Most Promising nomination at the Prix MultiMediaAustria. He developed 'RhNav - Rhizomatic Navigation', a navigation interface that visualizes internet user behavior.

Scanner aka Robin Rimbaud (1964 London, lebt in London)

Der elektronische Musiker Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner durchquert konsequent ein experimentelles Feld zwischen Sound, urbanem Raum und Telekommunikationstechnologien, aus denen auch seine von Isolation und Anspannung sprechenden, fesselnden Ton- und Bildfundstücke herstammen.

Seine Auftritte, künstlerischen Arbeiten sowie zahlreichen Kollaborationen finden international unter anderen am San Francisco MOMA, an der Hayward Gallery London, am Centre Pompidou Paris, an der Kunsthalle Wien, am Bolshoi Theater Moskau oder an der Tate Modern London statt.

Scanner aka Robin Rimbaud (1964 London, lives in London)

Electronic musician Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner consequently traverses an experimental terrain between sound, urban space, and telecommunication technology, where he also finds his absorbing sound and image elements that speak of strain and isolation.

His performances, artistic works and numerous collaborations are featured internationally at e.g. the San Francisco MOMA, the Hayward Gallery London, the Centre Pompidou Paris, the Kunsthalle Vienna, the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, or at the Tate Modern London.
